Getting Started
Follow the steps below to get started with configuring your application in IS Tools:
-
Log in to IS Tools in any of our supported web browsers.
-
Optional: Take a look at some videos showing the configuration and usage of applications in IS Tools, in order to get a look and feel for our platform.
-
Optional: Build a test application with a given business case using our quick exercise, before getting started with a real one.
-
Analyze the processes and workflow of your business. This will be helpful when defining relevant elements (tables, fields and relations) which constitute the data model, the basis of your information system. Functional user roles should also be identified.
(This is arguably the most important step when designing an information system. A thorough analysis of your business processes and workflow helps concisely define the data model and roles, which keeps dataflow efficiency high and reduces the time required to configure and implement changes in your application.)
Once the business analysis has been conducted, and you are clear as to which elements to include in your application, proceed with the following steps:
-
Configure tables and fields in the Data model editor.
-
Configure the forms through which users will input/read data with Form designer.
-
Create roles and set access rights to define which users have access to what data.
-
Configure reports to define the data content and presentation for outgoing reports.
