# IQL in Rules

> Use IQL in the Run IQL and Set the value of fields using IQL rule actions. Examples cover inserting records, for loops, variables, triggering rules, tuples, and links in Note fields.

There are two rule actions that utilize IQL, _Run IQL_ and _Set the value of fields using IQL_. The latter is the predecessor to _Run IQL_ and as such is not as powerful or user-friendly which is why we recommend using _Run IQL_ when possible.

> **Tip:**
>
> Using **Run IQL** provides the feature of code version control: Click on the ![ShowChangeInformationByLine](_images/form_designer/ShowChangeInformationByLine.png) icon to show change information by line, or click on the ![ShowHistory](_images/form_designer/ShowHistory.png) icon to show history of such changes.. This contributes to easier rule management.

> **Tip:**
>
> We have integrated Awen, our AI Assistant, directly into IQL rules editors. Instead of writing prompts from scratch, simply select any text and click the Awen icon next to the selection, to get an instant explanation.
